A Letter from Vice Dean Vit Henisz

This year underscored how dramatically the context for sustainable business and investing has changed, but also affirmed the resilience and continued relevance of our approach. Expectations and policies have shifted, terminology remains contested, and companies and investors continue to face pressure to demonstrate not only their impacts on natural, social, and human capital, but also when and how those impacts, in turn, influence financial performance. In that environment, clear thinking and credible evidence have become even more essential.

That is the work at the heart of the Wharton Impact, Value, and Sustainable Business Initiative (aka Wharton Impact). As the landscape evolves, our focus remains clear: helping leaders understand the connections between business impacts and long-term value creation. Our faculty are developing new knowledge about the ways natural, social, and human capital affect companies, investors, and markets. Our students are learning to evaluate those relationships with rigor, navigate difficult tradeoffs, and lead with the analytical discipline and adaptability required in a complex and changing business landscape.

We are grateful to everyone who contributes to the Wharton Impact community and shares in this work. The accomplishments highlighted below reflect the commitment of our faculty, researchers, students, alumni, partners, and supporters.
